1) Product description 

Ravintsara is a large evergreen tree that grows in the central highlands of Madagascar. It is cultivated for its leaves, which produce an attractive essential oil.
On its exploitation farm, the company is planting and cultivating the trees for mass production of essential oil. The plantation is now 23 years old and consists of 8 000 trees.
In order to ensure the supply of leaves, the company also has to buys from other surrounding sites which belong to over landowners.
All the production sites of raw materials are annually inspected by the organic certification agency ECOCERT and all products are certified in accordance with the organic BIO/CEE, NOP/USA, ESR (fair trade) farming practices.
The harvesting of leaves is done twice or thrice a year, depending on the age of the tree and the stage of development of the leaf.

2) Technical data of the essential oil 

Phael Flor Export performs the distillation of the raw materials directly on site.
Indeed, the products must be treated while it is still fresh in order to preserve the olfactory quality of the essential oil.
The essential oil obtained is a clear liquid, lightly yellow-green, with a fresh volatile scent. Its main component is cineol which content is responsible for the aroma and determines the quality of product. It mustn’t be inferior to 55%. The essential oil of Ravintsara produced by the company does not contain camphor while intended for pharmaceutical and aromatherapy purposes.

3) Specific characteristics 

Unlike the Cinnamomum camphora from Asia, most of the Ravintsara from Madagascar do not contain camphor or safrol. As a result, this Malagasy product is considered endemic and very popular in importing countries.

4) Product available for sale 

The essential oil produced by Phael Flor Export is almost totally produced for export. Products are certified organic and shipped in HDPE drums of 20 Kg.
The certificate and chromatographic analysis justifying the organic labels are provided with the products.
In some cases, the essential oil of Ravintsara can also be sold in conventional quality.
